THE NEW LOOK : Kidero Re-opens Westgate Mall

Nairobi governor Dr Evans Kidero today officially gave the go ahead of the re-opening of one of the East Africa’s largest mall , Westagate.

Speaking after the re-opening of the mall Kidero said:

“Today is a historic day for all Kenyans as we witnessed the re-opening of Westgate Mall. We shall not bow to terrorism and we will not be cowed by cowards!”

Westgate mall was attacked by Al – Shabab in September 2013 an horror event that saw the loss of over 167 innocent Kenyans and destruction .of millions worth of property.

Re-openning the mall is a sign to show that Kenyans are cowed by the inhuman act of the terrorists since their aim is to pull the countries economy behind.

Your take?

Should we have opened the mall or built something else on the land?

WE ARE BACK : Westgate Mall To Reopen This JULY

The management of Westgate Shopping Mall, which has remained closed for the last two years following the attacks announced that plans for the reopening are now at an advanced stage.

Speaking during an inter-denominational prayer service hosted at the Westgate Shopping Mall foyer, Westgate Mall Director, Alex Trachtenberg confirmed that tenants taking up space at the mall will soon be moving in to commence their respective store furnishings ahead of the reopening.

“As the management and directors of Westgate Mall alongside our esteemed tenants, we are today joined in this interdenominational thanksgiving and prayer service as we prepare for the reopening sometime in July,” Trachtenberg said.

The Westgate terror attack left 67 people dead and property worth millions of shillings destroyed.

The attack was perpetrated by Al-Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab militants who later said it was in retaliation to the continued stay of Kenya’s military in the lawless Somalia. The group said the attacks were in response to Kenya’s deployment of troops in an African Union-led force that has been beating back the militants in Somalia for the past four years.

On his part, Nakumatt Holdings Managing Director Atul Shah confirmed that the regional retailer will be commencing its in-store step up from next week.

“The fall of Westgate following the attack two years ago was a big blow to our business. I am however glad to confirm that our customers among other partners have enabled us to overcome the challenges and we are now a 52 branches strong retailer up from just about 40 branches then,” said Shah.

archbishop post

Archbishop Justin Welby urged Christians around the world to pray for the terrorists who brutally killed at least 67 in Nairobi. Daily Mail Reports

Justin Welby told worshipers not to forget ‘the captors’ in their prayers, so they can see that violence ‘won’t have the last word’.

He revealed that he himself had prayed for both the gunmen and the victims, and said that to do so was in line with Jesus Christ’s teachings.

The Archbishop said: ‘As Christians one of the things is that we pray for justice and particularly the issues around the anger that comes when this kind of thing happens, but we are also called as Jesus did on the Cross to pray for those who are doing us harm.’

Are You ready to forgive and pray for the captors/terrorists ?
