The name #RachelDolezal has been trending on social media this past few days and not for a good reason. She has been accused of lying about her ethnicity despite being the president of the local chapter of the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). For the longest time, the 37-year-old has been wearing African-American style wigs and putting on dark make-up so as to ‘look black’ until her biological Caucasian parents decided to bring to light her true ethnicity.
Her 22-year-old adopted brother, Ezra Dolezal, who describes himself as 25% black, accused her of accused her of giving African-Americans a “slap in the face” by co-opting their racial struggles after growing up with all the advantages of a white, middle-class girl. He also reveals that Rachel had previously told him not to “blow her cover” when he started to question her changing appearance.
Rachel has since resigned from her post at NAACP.
