Julie Gichuru after the wedding shared a post on her instagram account where she blessed the marriage of Eddie Ndichu and Janet Mbugua and stated :

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Wishing you both a life time of blessings!
Julie & Tony”

News Anchor Janet Mbugua Shares What Her Major Dream Has Always Been

You always see her on tv every Monday evening with Hussein Mohammed on the Monday special  news cast which has attracted a great audience on Citizen Tv. Something of interest is that behind the camera, looks and make up there is a person called Janet Mbugua who has a great dream of making other people life’s better.

Janet Mbugua is the  founder of Inua Dada initiative which has majorly focused on not only empowering girls but has gone further to advocate for the protection of their rights.

Janet says :

“It has always been a dream of mine to see other women succeed and this can only be achieved when we as a global community invest in empowering our girls and advocating for the protection of their rights.”

Janet Mbugua

The reason why she started this began in the year 2013 when  Citizen Television aired an emotive feature titled “Period of Shame”.

The feature highlighted the plight of primary school girls in Labos Primary School, Marigat District, Baringo County, Kenya who have no access to sanitary towels and result to using rags and chicken feathers during their monthly period.

Viewer reaction was immediate and soon it become clear that something needed to be done to ensure that girls were not missing classes due to lack of sanitary towels.

As a result  she was motivated to set up Inua Dada initiative campaign to address this issue in a collaborative effort with Royal Media Services.

Currently they have been able to reach over 10,000 girls and supplied over 91,000 sanitary pads to 108 schools in Kenya.  With a mission of  creating a supportive and accessible environment for primary school girls in Kenya Janet Mbugua and her team can only get better and we applaud them for that.

Janet Mbugua adds :

“I urge you to get involved in our Foundation’s work and there are many ways you can offer support it could be through volunteering, sponsoring a media advocacy campaign, sponsoring a Menstrual Health Management (MHM) presentation, donating funds  for purchase of sanitary towels, school uniform or towards our reseach program.

Together we can work to ensure that our primary school girls are having their basic needs fulfilled (access to education, adequate health care, food, clothing, shelter and a basic standard of living) so that they can be able to focus on learning and have an opportunity to enjoy their childhood.”

To support the initiative send her an email on info@inuadadafoundation.org with your feedback and comments or to discuss and find out how you can support their work.
