After almost a decade of marriage, US actress Meagan Good and her Hollywood producer husband, DeVon Franklin are going their separate ways.
According to The Blast, Franklin filed for the divorce at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles, California on Monday, 20 December.
Although Franklin is the one who took the first step to officially separating, a joint statement by the pair reveals that the decision was a mutual one.
“After much prayer and consideration we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected,” the statement which was posted on both their Instagram pages read.
“We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal. There’s no one at fault, we believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love. We are incredibly grateful for the life-changing years we’ve spent together as husband and wife,” it continued.
The statement concluded with the pair thanking God for having brought them together.
The news of the divorce came as a shock to many because six months ago, the couple reportedly celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary by sending each other tributes which included a 4-minute-long Instagram reel which highlighted their relationship.
Since getting married in June 2012, the couple who met on the set of Jumping the broom in 2011 have achieved many milestones together including co-authoring their bestselling book – The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love – which documented their romance and how saving sex until marriage contributed to the success of their relationship at the time.
