The official awards show for Christian Hip-Hop and Urban Gospel music took place over the weekend in New York City and among the big winners of the night were DA’ T.R.U.T.H & Andy Mineo. Watch clips of the night’s performers and winners in a BREATHEcast exclusive recap video below.

The Kingdom Choice Awards (KCA) was founded by Kingdom Time Entertainment CEO, Marcus Hall, in 2009 and has been a huge success in the urban gospel community ever since. The event was held at Kumble Theater on Saturday night at the Long Island University campus, located in the Downtown Brooklyn section of New York City, and some of the most prominent names in Christian hip-hop attended. Hip Hop legends and trailblazers Mike Peace and Corey Red were among the attendees.

The KCA had a very prestigious and professional set up and it gave those in attendance the official award show experience.

Producer of the Year – Black Knight

Break Through Artist of the Year – Transparent

Gospel Reggae Artist of the Year- Papa San

Hip-Hop Lyricist of the Year- MouthPiece

Urban Vocalist & Urban Vocalist Album/Mixtape of the Year – Mali Music

Female Rapper of the Year – Tied between Hee-Sun lee and Shy Speaks

Male Rap Minster of the Year- Andy Mineo

Rap Single & Hip-Hop Album of the Year- Social Club

Christian Hip Hop artist Andy Mineo, formerly known as C-Lite,producer and song writergot married to his former fiance Cristina this past weekend in a ceremony that was marked as quite glamorous and memorable.

On Saturday, Mineo posted “Sooo…I’m getting married today.”

Mineo proposed to his girlfriend in April during Easter weekend and announced it to the world with a photo revealing the face of the lucky lady in his life. He captioned a picture of the proposal “she said yes” in all caps.

Mineo even played up the fact that he is now taken. One of his album’s is called Formerly Known, and he created a t-shirt that reads Formerly Single.

Mineo worked as a producer in high school Upstate New York, and formed a hip hop group signed to Syracuse University’s Marshall Street Records. After moving to New York City, he examined his spiritual condition and re-dedicated his life to Christ and closed down his production studio to restart his career. He released his first mixtape Sin is Wack Vol. 1 in 2009.
