Kenya Rugby Union is soon to get a new face after Sportpesa joined their list of sponsors. They have poured a good 607,000,000 Kshs to support the rugby team. The sponsorship marks the beginning of a 5 year deal with the team.
The amount of money Sportpesa has given to a secure the partnership has left many with questions as to just how much the betting company is worth, considering the fact that this is not the only sports team that they are currently backing. However, they have come out as strong supporters to the Sports Industry, challenging corporates and other bodies to come on board and boost our sports industry.
KRU Chairman, Richard Omwela said “We are pleased that the partnership touches on the very core of our rugby development & sustainability. Kenya rugby is destined for rapid growth which is something that ties with SportPesa’s ambition to steer the country to greater global rugby heights”.
