On Tuesday evening Christians from Nairobi including dignitaries gathered at Citam Valley road to contribute cash for the late Bishop Ben Bahati. The main guest was H.E William Ruto but in absentia he was represented by Honorable Sudi to submit his contribution of Ksh.500,000/- for someone whom he once looked up to while in Eldoret. The deputy president was joined in the list of top contributors with the likes of Nairobi Senator Sonko, Hon Sudi, Margaret Wanjiru, and Bishop Mark Kariuki.
The gospel fraternity in the artistes department was fully represented too as Jimmy Gait and Ringtone spearheaded the contributions by giving some lump sum amount to help cover the remaining bill.
The late Bishop Ben Bahati had been admitted at Nairobi hospital for over a month after he had broken his neck in a ghastly road accident that took place on his way to Eldoret. He passed on last Monday night after succumbing to his injuries on his hospital bed and the family will be planning to lay him to rest this coming Friday at his home in Marava Village, Kakamega.
The body of Bishop Ben Bahati will finally leave Nairobi on Wednesday after the fundraiser and on Thursday there will be a mass service in Eldoret. On Thursday evening the body will be taken to Kakamega where there will be another service on the next day at Muliro Garden before the burial.
