Youngest Nobel Prize Winner Asks Uhuru To Take His Time To Decide On Closure Of Refugee Camp.

Nobel winner Malala Yousafzai yesterday visited the world’s biggest refugee camp in Northern Kenya as she celebrated her 19th birthday. Malala expressed her concern at the closure of the camp, stating that it will result in a ‘generation loss.

“They should not be forced to move,” the advocate for girls’ education said in an interview with The Associated Press.

“As we all know, the camp is going to be closed down soon, so I want to make sure that these girls don’t become a generation lost, and there are alternative facilities for them to continue with their education,” Malala said.

malala3noblee

Malala Yousafzai was born on July 12, 1997, in Mingora, Pakistan. As a child, she became an advocate for girls’ education, which resulted in the Taliban issuing a death threat against her. On October 9, 2012, a gunman shot Malala when she was traveling home from school. She survived, and has continued to speak out on the importance of education. She was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2013. In  2014,  she was nominated again and won, becoming the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

“They should not be forced to move. As we all know, the camp is going to be closed down soon, so I want to make sure that these girls don’t become a generation lost, and there are alternative facilities for them to continue with their education. If the camp is closed and its residents are moved to Somalia where there are few schools, the “girls will be without education,” she said, stating that they can at least they get an education in the schools inside Dadaab.

She further asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to reconsider and take his time in making a decision on the fate of the camp, keeping in mind the need to provide education for the girls. Malala has been looking forward to visiting the camp after being in contact with a group of girls from Daadab, via Skype. On arrival at the camp, the Nobel Winner was embraced by the girls who came out in big numbers to receive her.

Kenya Set To Host Another Prime Minister This Weekend

Just days after Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu’s exit from the country, Kenya is set to host another international figure within its borders this weekend. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Nairobi on Sunday as part of his five-day Africa tour.

He will be in the country for a day, holding talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Kenyatta visited India for four days last year in  October, during the India-Africa Summit held in New Delhi . He took this opportunity to welcome Mr.Modi to Kenya.

India’s High Commissioner to Kenya Ms Suchitra Durai in Januarannounced that the PM Modi had accepted President Kenyatta’s invitation and would visit the country later this year.

Just yesterday (5th July) traffic in the CBD was at a standstill following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Nairobi visit. Nairobi residents were not happy with the fact that they were not earlier advised to use alternative routes while going about their duties. Today, Netanyahu flew out of the country, leaving Mombasa Road impassable for a few hours. He however apologized for the traffic snarl up that his visit caused.

Once A Street Boy; Male Artist Of The Year Nominee Starts His Own Record Label.

IMG-20160630-WA0006

Audi Phaxad Peter are his real names, better known as Guardian Angel. He has been in the gospel industry for close to 5 years now, but he has managed to remain relevant and consistent with his music. One thing you may overlook about the stylish, conservative artist is that he was once a street boy. He has known cold nights in the streets of the country where he barely had anything for himself, and his mum. It is easy to look at such times and fail to see the bigger picture that God has for our lives. But Guardian did not lose sight of God’s plan over His life, and indeed God proved to be faithful. He is among this year’s Groove Awards Male Artist of The Year nominees, battling it out with the big names in the industry like Daddy Owen and Pitson.

During a weekly trending Twitterview, asked why he chose gospel music and not any other form of music content, he answers; “I had no option but to sing for God. I am a born again Christian and from a Christian upbringing.”

Years down the line, Guardian Angel is a singer, songwriter and worshiper. If he is not in studio, he is writing, when he is not writing, he is doing vocal practice. He has used his gift to minister, and he has been good at it.

Guardian has known what it is to lack, and therefore he has taken the step to take under his wing, artists who lack funds and the know how to penetrate into the local Gospel Industry. He has started his own label and called it ‘7 Heaven’.

“7 Heaven is a name given to me by my dad- J Blessing  for a project of 7 songs in 7 months .”

Under this, he has upcoming talent, Blessing Miles and 2 member group Wapendwa Muziki. He hopes to mentor others as the label grows. Borrowing from video producer JBlessing, his mentor, who he refers to as ‘Dad’; Guardian believes that mentoring is key especially in a time where there are so many young upcoming artists who require the leadership of those who are already experienced in the industry.

JBlessing has been behind him through his music career and seen him through most of his milestones. Lately, Guardian has embraced a new look. He has changed his hair colour, and may never be spotted wearing studs again. A change which he also attributes to JBlessing’s advice and guidance.

Apart from music and mentoring artists, Guardian spends his time with street children because he himself was one. He understands their plight, and often goes out of his way to help them where and when he can.

A look at Guardian Angel’s social media pages will give you an idea of how influential his music ministry is. Despite this fact, he is a humble individual who is careful to return “All Glory To God” on most, if not all of the compliments he receives.

His advice to upcoming artists?

“You don’t need to look for established artists to collabo with so that you are known. Look for God, He will guide you towards doing music that will relate to the listeners.”

Guardian has added to the list of songs he has released, the latest one being Kataa ft Holy Dave. He has also released Unconditionally, a song which has left his listeners asking why he moved from the Ragga style of music to relatively slow music. Either way, it is not the last that you will hear from Guardian Angel as he looks forward to continue using his gift to magnify His Creator and inspire others to do the same.

7 Tips To Keep Your Godly Marriage Or Relationship Strong And Healthy.

We all long for a healthy marriage and relationship with our God given better half. Here are a few tips written by motivational speaker Kendi Ashitiva, that will certainly help.

  1. Please do not go into marriage or relationships with your HEART only and without your BRAIN. Retain some level of sobriety and level ‘headedness’ throughout your relationship.

  2. Write down your negotiables and non-negotiables and share them with your SPOUSE or spouse to be. Do not coerce them to agree to them. Let them choose to be with you. Let them know what they are getting themselves into.

  3. Surround yourselves with people of sound judgment who will keep you grounded no matter how high the emotions gets. Refer to Number 1.

4.Every marriage and relationship needs firefighters, agree on those before hand. Who are your firefighters? Keep reinforcing the need to have them throughout the marriage or relationship, and choose to submit to them.

5. Do not be a SLAVE of your partners choices or decisions. Remember they chose to be with you, if halfway through they change their minds please do not force issues. If you have to beg to be loved and accepted then you are in a dangerously unhealthy relationship. RUN. Remember one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure, and you my dear are worthy of love, affection and RESPECT.

6. Ladies and Gentlemen MONEY IS POWER. Meaning please count the cost before ever leaving your job. Money or the lack of it tends to really strain a marriage or relationship so beware. Money is not EVERYTHING but it is SOMETHING. So work at being considerate and supportive of your spouse in whichever financial season they are in. Remember it’s just a season.

7. Finally always remember to show RESPECT to your partner. You don’t have to be in love to show RESPECT, but you must show RESPECT if you claim to be in love.

Al Shabaab Strike Again, 6 Feared Dead

Al Shabaab militants have ambushed 2 passenger buses reportedly leaving at least 6 people dead and over 20 injured. The incident has taken place in Mandera County. One bus, called Tawakal, was sprayed with bullets between Elwak and Wargadud, but the driver sped off.The second bus, e-Coach, stalled after it was hit with bullets. Most of those who died were in the second bus.

Mandera East Deputy County Commissioner Yonah Nyawir earlier said non-locals living in Mandera would not be allowed to travel by bus until the end of Ramadhan. He said that this short-term move is due to security threats posed by the Al-Shabaab militants.

Mandera County Commissioner Fredrick Shisia told Reuters the attack happened at 9:30am (0630 GMT) as the buses were travelling to Mandera town from the capital Nairobi.

“So far we are talking of six dead,” he said, noting that the attack had happened on the road between Wargadud and Elwak.

The United States on Thursday warned its citizens against travelling to areas near the border with Somalia because of threats from Somali militant group al Shabaab.

This is another one of several attacks on the Northern County. It comes just a few days after the Inspector General heightened security in the country’s airports.

3 John 1:2 – Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Proverbs 17:22 – A merry heart doeth good [like] a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Matthew 10:1 – And when he had called unto [him] his twelve disciples, he gave them power [against] unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Psalms 127:3 – Lo, children [are] an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward.

Matthew 10:8 – Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Deuteronomy 7:15 – And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all [them] that hate thee.

Isaiah 41:10 – Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

“I Wasn’t A Good Wife After All”: Former KTN Presenter shares on what it means to be a good wife.

1907342_1592164024338470_6537626689915926614_n

Former KTN Tukuza Presenter Kendi Ashitiva, shared in length about the revelation that she wasn’t as good a wife as she thought she was. She narrates in detail on how she learnt about the mistakes she was making in her marriage. She finishes with advice to all the wives out there and aspiring wives. Her letter comes during a time where marriage has lost it’s meaning, and divorce cases are at an all time high.

“I have always thought of myself as a pretty good wife. I mean I kept a clean house, made nice healthy meals, I kept everyone warm with appropriate clothes and bedding, I took care of the sick, I mean I was a wonderful woman. The Proverbs 31 woman!!

However a few days ago as I was praying, I began to pray for my marriage and I was going to floss over it because I thought, “Hey, I have a great marriage!!” However the Holy Spirit led me not to pray for my husband, but to repent for areas where I was falling short as a wife!!! You should have seen my face!

But as I began to allow God to deal with my heart, I began to see what God was talking about. I wept and wept with such sorrow as I began to repent for not being fully submitted to my husband as the Lord would want me to. I began to see how I see my husband through the world’s eyes and not through the eyes of God. I repented for times when I wasn’t patient with him or I didn’t truly support him like the Lord would have me support him. I repented for secretly holding resentment and offenses against him. Things I wasn’t even aware I was doing. I began to see what a horrible wife I was.

Here is the interesting thing folks, my husband thought I was an AWESOME WIFE, but God tells me ‘NO you are not AN AWESOME WIFE’. According to His (God’s) standards I was falling short. I was lacking in patience, I was lacking understanding, I was lacking in forbearance. Friends, as I lay on the floor crying to God to change my heart and help me be a better wife to this amazing man He gave me, I began to understand that being a wife IS A HIGH CALLING.

I began to see myself for who I really was and not WHO I THOUGHT I WAS. Forget what the world defines a wife  being. ‘Looking hot, dropping it like it’s hot and remaining as age defying as you can possibly be.’ I began seeing that being a wife is no joke!

The only two people called HELPERS in the bible are A WIFE AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. And what does the Holy Spirit do? He comforts, he teaches, he guides, convicts and instructs with such gentleness etc. I began to understand that I am only a good wife by God’s standards and not by anyone else, not even my husband’s. I began to appreciate that I can never be a great wife in my own strength. I have to lean on the Holy Spirit to help me be a GODLY WIFE. Friends everyone can be a wife but not everyone one is a godly wife. I began to see how I was lacking in wisdom, in grace, in humility.. I was so off the mark, yet everyone around me thought I was AMAZING, including myself.

Being a wife is a high calling ladies, so the next time you are praying for your marriage, stop and pray for yourself, ask God to show you areas where you are falling short according to HIS standards. Are you truly walking in humility? Or are you quietly resentful and angry about one thing or another, are you envious or jealous of other people’s husbands, are you secretly comparing your husband with other men, are you insecure and scared? Where do you get your standards from? Society, Culture, Religion or God Himself?

Granted all marriages go through challenges including mine but when the trumpet sounds, and you and I stand before the FATHER we will all account for our roles as WIVES? So the next time you see those shiny rings on anyone’s fourth finger, next time one of your girlfriends gets engaged be reminded that rings are not just cute, they are a SYMBOL, A SYMBOL OF A VERY HIGH CALLING! THAT OF BEING A WIFE, A GODLY WIFE!”

Dear Lord,
Create in me a clean heart towards my husband, remove all areas of pride, resentment, anger and unforgiveness. Deal with frustration, disappointments and regret. Lord heal any past, present and future hurt and help me be the wife you want me to be. Search me Oh Lord and know my heart, and make my life pleasing to you in public and in private In JESUS NAME. Amen and Amen.

God Bless You All

Bible Verses To Encourage Those With Stress.

Are you feeling stressed and overwhelmed? Are you worried about tomorrow? Well, God’s grace is sufficient. In His words are promises that should calm your heart and give peace to your mind. Own these promises, as you pray, remind Him of them. You will find rest in Him.

Phillipians 4:6-7 : Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 11:28-30 : Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Isaiah 43:18-19 : “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Psalms 55:22 : Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

James 1:5-8 : If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

James 1:2-25 : Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind…

2 Corinthians 12:19 : Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

SHOULD CHRISTIANS BE BETTING?

While the Bible has no ” Though shall not gamble” verse, Christians have marked it as a ‘grey area’ often shying away from this practice. Betting is one of the many forms of gambling. Of late, Kenyans have embraced the sport betting culture, resulting to a rise in betting platforms, which are used by Christians as well.

The debate remains as to whether or not, a Christian should bet?

The desire for money is addictive, and this addiction is a reality that we can’t ignore just because we are Christians. The Bible cautions us concerning the love for money- “But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” (1 Timothy 6:9-10)

Common reasons that are given against Christians betting, revolve around the vices that it surrounds.

Gambling is inconsistent with the virtues of the Bible because it encourages (is encouraged by) covetousness, greed, and materialism. It is also contrary to the biblical work ethic, mainly because it is an attempt to gain wealth without working for it. We are instructed to work for a living. Doing anything opposite to this is plain laziness, where we gain where we have not worked.
Other than these reasons, it is evident that betting promotes materialism and greed, where gamblers want to get more than what they put in. It is a clear sign of discontent and exploitation.

We are called to be good stewards of all that we are given by GOD including our money. Scripture instructs us to use our resources to provide for our families and our basic needs. Gambling channels these resources to the risk of losing them on the possibility of winning more.

The fact remains that any form of gambling is addictive, and statistics are there to support this. Christians are not immune to this fact, because as much as we are Christians, we are also human. Whatever we allow to control us, we become enslaved to. “For you are a slave to whatever controls you.” 2 Peter 2:19 The Bible warns us that a conflict will arise when we put God and money on the same page. “…. for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to one and despise the other.”

Finally,

The Bible recognizes the need for money. God is not blind to our needs, and He promises to provide. In Christ’s teachings He encourages us to ask Him for our daily needs, and He promises to be faithful to provide, even when it comes to monetary needs. God is a faithful God, and He cannot leave us to the desperation that comes with betting.  “.. your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things..”

Closer home, we have read and heard of cases where people have committed suicide after investing so much on the bet only to miss out on the winnings. The long term effect of betting is addiction which rarely ends in a good way. Christians are therefore often urged to stay away from anything that promotes gambling. There is a thin line between what is right and what is wrong. What is acceptable and what is right.  Betting may be acceptable, but is it right?

Paul in answering questions from the Corinthians wrote: ‘You say- “I am allowed to do anything,” but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.”

We all have our opinion on this. What do you think? Is it okay for Christians to bet?
